So-so...his pass blocking is my biggest concern. I watched Tamba Hali and Alex McGee blow by him all day today...if he could lock in, Hali and McGee had troubles...but McIntosh wasn't quick enough to recover, and couldn't set up proper angles against quick guys like those two.

Earlier in his career, Mac had the necessary quickness to be somewhat better than servicable at LT, but he has never been much as a run blocker.

He can still hold his ground, to some extent, if he can get his hands under a defenders pads, but he has never been able to overpower anyone.

When he was younger, he was slimmer in the upper body. His big upper body combined with his skinny legs have caused him trouble. His upper and lower body are so mis-proportioned that he will always struggle with the quicker DE's...he doesn't have the leg strength to carry that much upper body weight, and his speed struggles because of it...

What a waste of time talking about DMac.

I suspect that the only reason that the defense looks good is because the offense is truly deplorable.

Sacks, finally

The Chiefs had only 10 sacks all of last season but got more than halfway there in the scrimmage alone. Derrick Johnson, Glenn Dorsey, Tamba Hali, Andy Studebaker, Ron Edwards and Turk McBride all would have put the passer on the ground had contact with the quarterback been allowed. McBride also forced a couple of hurried throws.

"The quarterbacks were having to move around a little bit so there was a definitely some good pressure created, which is good," coach Todd Haley said. "That’s what we need to do."

Up and down day for Cassel, QBs

None of the quarterbacks were stars in today’s intrasquad scrimmage. Starter Matt Cassel threw two interceptions and fumbled for the second straight day. It was not one of his better practices of training camp.

"There were some good things and some bad things," Cassel said. "We did some really good things at times and there were a few balls that got away from me a little bit."

Cassel fumbled when he was hit by Larry Johnson, who was trying to pick up a blitzing linebacker.

"That’s just something you’ve got to prevent," coach Todd Haley said. "He’s got to keep two hands on the ball and Larry’s got to avoid him. You can’t let it happen."

Cassel later threw two interceptions in three plays. On the second, he shouted as soon as he threw the ball, knowing it was going to end up in a defender’s hands.

"I moved to my left and didn’t get anything on it," Cassel said. "The good part of this is we have 30-some days before our first game. There’s no doubt it was good for us to get out there, tackle, have the live bullets flying at you. These guys were coming hard."

Neither Tyler Thigpen nor Brodie Croyle threw an interception, but they weren’t particularly sharp, either. Thigpen on one drive threw three straight passes that were off-target.

Thigpen threw two touchdown passes, Cassel one and Croyle none. Matt Gutierrez threw a touchdown pass on his only drive.

Long-range kicker

Rookie Ryan Succop again proved one thing if he wins the placekicking job: The Chiefs will have plenty of range when Haley opts to kick a field goal.

Succop, with the benefit of a breeze, made field goal attempts from 53 and 58 yards. He also was given credit by the officials for making attempts from 34 and 38 yards, though Haley said he thought the 38-yard missed.

He also was wide right on a 33-yard kick, the first of his five attempts, so Succop’s results were mixed.

"He missed the first one clearly but after that I thought he was pretty solid," Haley said. "It looked like he wasn’t panicking too much."

It was definitely a rough day for all involved...but it wasn't all the QB's fault. The WR's weren't getting much seperation, running a couple lazy routes, and didn't capitalize on some really good throws as well.

If Bowe would have came back hard on the Cassel INT, he would have caught it, and went 40 yards for a TD. He didn't, and it went the other way.

Webb had a rough day dropping three perfectly thrown balls. Cassel would have had another TD if Engram would have got up for a tough grab in the back of the endzone.

A learning session...

The drops are so f*&^ing irritating. Seems like every daily update involves multiple drops by every receiver. Coaches should make 'em all practice on the jugs machine till they're puking.

Thigpen is butt. If you ever supported him...you're a maroon.

After today, I firmly believe Brodie Croyle is the No. 2 QB and that Tyler Thigpen is in danger of even making this team.

Well I like seeing that Hali looks solid and they have a plan for Dorsey. That would really suck having 2 out of the last 4 first round picks end up being busts.

If Hali rushes the quarterback well he's done his job. End of story.
