It's not moronic, but there's one big difference- NFL players play voluntarily and are compensated. The dogs are not. I sympathize with Turley, but that's part of the reason their compensation is as high as it is.
It's not like workers in other industries don't suffer long term problems with their bodies. I bet some guy that roofs houses for 20 years or works doing hard work in some factory has long term problems, too. I understand that the injuries to the brain an NFL player might suffer are a different thing than a bad back, but still, it's phyisical problems.
This is one of the reasons I don't mind when players want more money though.
