There's a little bar on E. Chestnut called The Gatherin' Place. Cheap beer, cheap food, and the parking lot is well lit and faces a Chestnut so its unlikely anything will happen. Not a fancy place by any means, but everyone that hangs out there is pretty friendly.

Please explain. Admittedly, I havent been there in 5-6 years but it was a fun place to chill back then. It was full of 30 years + rather than frat boy douchebags, thats why I liked it. That and it was cheap as hell.
