10 Players

You are responsible for rebuilding the Chiefs for next year. Clark has told you that you can do anything you want with free agency and the draft, but you have to retain 10 players from this years squad to retain some sense of continuity with the dwindling fan base. You want players that you can count on, as well as those that aren't a complete embarrassment.

Which 10 do you want to keep? Should you keep? Which would keep your chances of getting nuthooked in a dark alley to a minimum?

For me:

1. Colquitt
2. Succop
3. Cassel
4. Charles
5. Bowe
6. Albert
7. Dorsey
8. Hali
9. Flowers
10.Jackson

I struggled with a couple three of these, ironically three first round draft picks. I rationalized how long it took for Hali to come around and used that to justify Bowe, Dorsey and Jackson.

Who would you keep for sure?

If we hire an OC this year, and that OC happens to be a former Notre Dame coach, then we coud possibly be taking a QB. Especially if the Rams draft Suh.

Yeah, but if I'm the pretend GM, I'm not hiring that pretend OC cause I think he's an angry fat man.

Been a Chiefs fan for 40+ years Laz. I've developed a bad case of QB envy over the years.

I changed it to 25 because you need backups and ST players, you can't fix everything through the draft.

1. Matt Cassel
2. Dwayne Bowe
3. Jamaal Charles
4. Branden Albert
5. Brian Waters
6. Tyson Jackson
7. Glen Dorsey
8. Derrick Johnson
9. Tamba Hali
10. Brandon Flowers
11. Brandon Carr
12. Jarrad Page
13. Dustin Colquitt
14. Ryan Succop
15. Chris Chambers
16. Corey Mays
17. Javon Belcher
18. Dantrell Savage
19. Brodie Croyle
20. Dujuan Morgan
21. Alex McGee
22. Maurice Meggett
23. Wallace Gillberry
24. Andy Studabaker
25. Mark Bradley

Draft
1. SS - Eric Berry
2. MLB - Brandon Spikes
2. OT - Jason Fox
3. OLB - Eric Norwood
4. WR - Denario Alexander
5. RB - Montario Hardesty
5. OL - Chris Scott (he can play every Oline position)
6. QB - Max Hall
7. BPA

FA

6. Charles
7. Bowe
8. Richardson
9. Croyle
10. Gilberry

This allows me to draft Berry to have a complete starting defensive backfield, Suh to put next to Dorsey and Gilberry on the D-Line (4-3) or Clausen and have Croyle start at least the first 8 games, if not the entire season.

I'd have my bookend tackles in Albert & Richardson and my two best playmakers in Charles & Bowe. With a solid draft and a few free agent acquisitions, I could have this team competing in under two years.
