Chiefs Bringing In LB Sean Weatherspoon and S Earl Thomas For Visits

http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2010/3...ing-in-lb-sean

The Kansas City Chiefs are getting to work on their private visits in preparation for the NFL Draft in late April. We've learned the names of two first round prospects the Chiefs will be bringing to town -- Mizzou LB Sean Witherspoon and Texas S Earl Thomas.

Both are being reported by Scout.com (via WtexKC)

I think these two workouts are interesting because both would likely be available in the middle of the first round. Perhaps a trade down? The Chiefs are just being prepared.

A little more info on each player after the jump.

Sean Weatherspoon

Witherspoon is a local guy so a lot of people know him. He's 6'1", 239 pounds and a lot of folks have him going to the Atlanta Falcons in the first round.

I've heard him described as a better fit for a 4-3 than a 3-4.

He's rated the third overall linebacker by NFL Draft Scout.

The Chiefs will also have a local pro day for guys from Mizzou so I'm not sure how Weatherspoon fits into that.

Chiefs GM Scott Pioli went to Mizzou's game against Nebraska in Columbia last season. I remember he talked about it on one of the local radio stations the next day and mentioned that there was a great defensive player on both sides of the field (Suh and Weatherspoon?).

Earl Thomas

Thomas is coming out of Texas and is 5'10", 208 pounds.

He's generally the second ranked safety behind Eric Berry but interestingly Mike Mayock of NFL Network had him above Berry.

He's another guy that could be available in the middle-to-end of the first round.

(H/T WtexKC for the first FanShots)

1.12 E Thomas

If I'm moving down to 12, I'd take Taylor Mays over Earl Thomas. Also, if I'm moving down to 12, I'm moving back into the first, because this team needs impact players.

It would look something like this:

1.12: Mays/Haden
1.18: Weatherspoon
2.4: Hughes
3.5: Linval Joseph
4-7: Same

Yes.

Weatherspoon is a guy, who while not worth it at 5, will make the entire back seven better because of his leadership (not to mention his sideline-sideline range.

**** that if we trade down we better draft Brandon Graham. Until this team gets an actual pass rusher this defense will continue to suck.

Brandon Graham is not worth the 12th pick in the draft.

If you'd want him at 20, I could see that.

However, the odds of the Chiefs taking either Graham or Hughes is very low. They aren't long enough to fit the profile.

Guys like Sapp, Kindle, Lang, Lindsey Witten are all much more likely.

What do you mean by long enough? If they draft Kindle over Graham because he's an inch taller thats ****ing stupid.

I wonder how Hamas would deal with the Chiefs taking Spoon at 5. He'd be fighting these conflicting emotions....****, a linebacker at 5....wait, ****, we got my boy spoon...****, Pioli! ****, MIZZOU! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK! He would probably just not post out of inner turmoil.

I agree, I'd rather have E. Thomas, J Hughes and D. Thomas over just Kindle and Mays.

That draft makes me want to kill myself, so good possibility it happens.

I don't really like the value either, Weatherspoon should go to a 4-3 team, I think you also gave the Chiefs 2 guys who are going in the 1st round at the top of the 2nd.
