Tamba Hali is criminally underrated

Best pass rusher in the league right now, and it isn't really close. The guy gets to the QB on every. Single. Play. He's an unstoppable, unblockable, no quit, high motor player and he puts Jared Allen to shame. I would submit he's the best pass rusher this team has seen since Derrick Thomas. I hope we get a QB and some other pieces in place soon so we don't waste his incredible talent. BEAST. I love watching him play. Easily the biggest bright spot of this season. Hats off to him.

Good point. Bad thing is, it was set up for that to happen this year coming off a division championship and with all the PT games...

He's been one of my faves since he came into the league. He led the league in pressures by a mile last year and the AFC in sacks, so it's not a stretch to say he's the best right now at getting after the QB. I haven't seen a pass rusher this year beat his man as consistently as Tamba does.

Hali is one of the best at passrushing but he's average at best at everything else. That still makes him one one the top 3-4 OLB but not top 5.

That tackle he missed against Buffalo was dreadful, I would never expect an elite OLB to miss that bad.

Flowers is still the Chiefs best defensive player.

Allen is a one trick pony. He rushes the passer and that's it. He's a liability in every other facet of the game. He's Gilberry, only not as good against the run.

I think Allen is the most OVERrated DE in football. He does NOT make a defense better.

All this. Allen is a garbage time sack collector that isn't clutch or very good against the run. He's actually quite the liability most of the time. Not to mention he's an idiot in every sense of the word.

I'm just a caveman. I fell on some ice and was later thawed out by some of your scientists. Your world frightens and confuses me. Sometimes the honking horns of your traffic make me want to get out of my BMW and run off into the hills, or wherever. Sometimes when I get a text message on my phone, I wonder: "Did little demons get inside and type it?" I don't know! My primitive mind can't grasp these concepts.

I also don't get the idea the people can judge the performance of a player like Hali in these terms. How is it possible that a fan can know what responsibilities an OLB has on any given play? Is he supposed to cover? If so, who? Is he supposed to play the run gap? If so, which one? Is he supposed to rush the passer? Is it supposed to be a stunt? Take the outside angle? Freelance based on the tackle's first move?

All I know is that Hali has no quit in him, apparently. That, and he stayed home on a reverse to his side yesterday when everybody else was sucking on Erick Hicks lozenges.

He's handled the move to OLB pretty darn well, in my view ... probably as well as anyone could under the circumstances. Therefore, I hereby award Tamba Hali the Big Gbanga Award in recognition of his patented quarterback smash move.
