Who would trade for Manning?

The Colts take Andrew Luck #1 overall in April, and decide to auction off Manning to the highest bidder.

Who on earth would be willing to trade for him? We're talking a MINIMUM of two firsts for a guy who will be good for one more season, tops.

I'll be honest. I don't know what the team should do about the QB position. I just know something has to be done. If we ended up with Peyton Manning, I'd probably question the move, considering we'd have to give up too much.

I certainly wouldn't cry about it though. I think Peyton is a great QB who still has 2 or 3 years left in the tank, and he might be able to get us a playoff win or perhaps even take us on a Super Bowl run. HOWEVER, it really is a terrible move for our long term success unless we also drafted a QB to groom while Peyton was here. Which considering our history...is very unlikely.

So it comes down to "how starved is this team for a playoff win/Super Bowl run?". Would you rather win in the next 2 years and be insta-****ed directly after? Or build for the future through the draft like good franchises do. I'd prefer the latter.

I believe that having Peyton Manning as our starting QB would get us into the playoff's on a Super Bowl run. I also believe that this would start a winning mentality in KC, and players will actually want to come play here on Manning's team.
Would it be scary because of his neck injuries? Yes. I think two 1st rounders would be a high price, but anything less would be a no brainer.

The question is, would it be more likely that the Colts would trade Manning, or would they be more apt to trade that #1 overall pick? Or would they draft Luck and groom him behind Peyton for a couple years? I haven't heard anything yet, but that time is growing near.

Personally I think the Colts will keep Manning and trade that number 1 pick to a team desperate for Luck. The Colts will have an awesome draft for the next couple of years and groom someone else to take over for Peyton.

Don't think anybody would trade 2 1sts for him.

But if you're the Ravens...or Bears....or any other team with a very solid defense and perceive ***ONLY*** QB to be the "missing link", then he could be worth an investment.

Why would the Jets or Ravens trade for an over the hill QB when they have a young guy who's respectable at the position already?

Because "respectable" doesn't win Superbowls.

But, you destroy the future of the franchise past 2-3 years. Let's say the Jet's pick up Manning, trade Sanchez, and Peyton gets slammed to the ground and ends his career. They're done.... They wouldn't be worth a shit again till they suck bad enough to draft another starting caliber QB. I guarantee that neither the Jets or Ravens make the deal.
