Pat Robertson thinks a Manning injury would "serve them right"

http://content.usatoday.com/communit...1#.T2xoCo4yei9

Robertson is not happy with the Broncos shipping out Tim Tebow. So unhappy that he's wishing Peyton Manning bad karma.

Robertson has his own bounty out on the new QB.

Robertson said Denver treated Tebow "shabbily" after all he did for the "nothing team" last season.

"And you just ask yourself, OK, so Peyton Manning was a tremendous MVP quarterback, but he's been injured. If that injury comes back, Denver will find itself without a quarterback. And in my opinion, it would serve them right," he said on the 700 Club.

Robertson has had Tebow's back before. He blasted Saturday Night Live for doing a skit that he felt made fun of Tebow's religious beliefs.

One of my facebook friends is the girlfriend of an old navy buddy that lives in Colorado. She posted a tirade about the Donx dumping Tebow - not a peep about Manning, just rage over them dissing poor Timmy.

These people are insane.

But FWIW, if God decides to smite Manning with the jawbone of an ass, I'm good with that. It would take out him and Elway at the same time.

I like the "nothing team" part. I laughed!

I pretty much agree that the Donks treated him poorly, but I don't think it could be helped either.

Oh well. I never hope for injury so I hope Manning re-aggravates the next working out or brushing his teeth or something.

i never wanna see injuries either but Manning deserves what he gets.
i'm still ticked because he disrespected the Chiefs by showing no intrest when we have a better team than the Broncos.

maybe Clark should have designed a new Chiefs logo with a Horse or Elways face on it.

Wow.

If he goes down it will most likely be due to a knee or a shoulder, it won't be because of his neck. His neck is stronger than ever. Spinal fusion is actually pretty common in the NFL. There have been LB's and FB's who have had that surgery and continued to play at a high level.

"Once the fusion occurs, then really that fusion is going to be as strong as anything," said Dr. Eric McCarty, chief of sports medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

"You do have to make sure thatit's healed and that the bones are completely fused to each other. But once that occurs, that's not going to break. But once you've had a nerve injury, nerves take a long time to regenerate, if at all, and if you've had a lot of compression on a nerve, you could have some permanent damage. Basically the nerve is the electrical power to the muscle, and sometimes that power gets crimped and it doesn't regenerate all the way. And that's the real issue in terms of recovery."

Former teammate Brandon Stokley played catch with the QB recently and said Manning's arm strength had returned and that "he looks great."

Players have returned to the NFL after fusion surgery, including former Panthers quarterback Chris Weinke, who had fusion surgery before his last season at Florida State. He played nine seasons — one in college, eight in the NFL — after his fusion surgery, including five seasons for current Broncos coach John Fox during Fox's tenure as coach at Carolina.

Dr. Robert Watkins, the renowned back specialist who performed Manning's surgery, announced Feb. 2 he had cleared Manning to resume his playing career.

In 2010, Dr. Wellington K. Hsu, a surgeon and assistant professor at Northwestern University, published a study of 99 NFL players who had suffered herniated discs. Of those 99 players, 53 had surgeries and 46 opted for nonsurgical treatments. Hsu's study found players who had surgery had higher return-to-play rates and longer careers.

McCarty said there is concern, over time, not about the fusion, but rather the area just above and just below the fusion.

"What you do need to be careful of are the adjacent levels, above and below the fusion," McCarty said. "Because now you have this segment of vertebrae that is stiff with flexible areas above and below so you are at risk of developing some degenerative conditions of the areas above and below the fusion.

"Not necessarily a catastrophic risk, but there is a risk, and that's true of everyone. That can cause some pain and sometimes you have to go in and fuse those levels. But there have been a lot of athletes, football players, who have played with single level fusion and gone off and played successfully."

He didn't wish injury on Manning (and he didn't say ANYTHING about karma, Denise. That was editorializing on the part of the columnist).

He said they treated Tebow poorly (and they did) and said last year's Broncos were a nothing team (they were).

He said if Manning were to get injured, they would be without a QB (they would) and it would serve them right (it absolutely would serve them right if they go into the season with Caleb Hanie as the backup, TYLER PALKO beat him).

Why does Robertson need to talk about Tebow anyways? What's the point? Ratings maybe? I just wish people would stop talking about an insignificant player.

And who cares If they treated Tebow poorly or not? He wasn't treated any differently than any other NFL player and it wasn't because of his faith if thats what Robertson was trying to imply? Robertson can stay the heck out of sportstalk radio territory. Senile imbecile.

Honestly, I heard this on a show this morning and dismissed it... Robertson is crazy. I don't care who thinks it makes sense or not, the dude is nuts and the fact people are debating it just says you guys are bored. Enjoy though.

Pat Robertson is such a pathetic fake christian. And a complete hypocrit. Tebow is being treated like any other mediocre qb when a team can get a great one. Pat seems to think Tebow should get special treatment bc he's an in your face christian. And, while he didn't precisely say it, he's clearly implying that that he wishes harm upon the Broncos for not kissing little Timmy's ass.

Btw, if Manning does get hurt, Elway will still think its money well spent; bc he would still have escaped from 3 or so years trapped by public pressure into trying to develop a guy without an nfl skillset.

1) Pat Robertson is a loon.

2) Pat Robertson doesn't know what karma means.

3) Pat Robertson preaches hate as a doctrine of Christianity.
