Is Matt going to come out and say he is a clutch playoff QB next?

Some words are mutually exclusive meaning they shouldn't be used together, like military intelligence and jumbo shrimp. Another of those is elite and Cassel. The exception to this is to state it in the negative such as "Matt Cassel is not an elite QB."

You're wrong ... Stop it ... Just stop it. Quarterback interceptions can be deceiving. whoman69, come on - I expect you to know that.

Wall Street Journal: A Closer Look at Eli's Interceptions

Sept. 6, 2011

The Giants Quarterback Had Plenty of 'Help' in Recording a League-Leading 25 Picks Last Year; Tips, Poor Routes, Bad Luck

Manning threw for 4,002 yards in 2010, while recording career-highs in touchdowns (31), completion percentage (62.9) and completions (339). No one was more productive on first down than the Giants, no one threw more touchdowns of 20 or more yards, and even his critics acknowledge Manning is among the league's best at reading defenses and setting protections in both the run and pass game.

Only 14 of Manning's 2010 interceptions were solely on him. To be sure, other quarterbacks are also victimized by poor route-running, tipped balls, good defense and bad luck, but Manning's exceptionally high interception total wouldn't have happened without so many issues beyond his control.

Take a look:

No. 1 — 1st quarter, 11:10, 2nd and 18 at NYG 36, 0-0
Receiver Hakeem Nicks sets out on an in cut. When the free safety crashes the slot receiver, Nicks is forced inside the yard numbers, instead of outside. That takes him out of the spot Manning throws to and when the ball is therefore a bit behind him, it glances off his hands and into safety Charles Godfrey's. Nicks needs to straighten up, work his way back outside the numbers and then cut in.
Blame: RECEIVER

No. 2 — 2nd quarter, 9:32, 3rd and 20 at NYG 47, NYG 7-6
With Carolina in a Tampa-2 and his receivers covered, Manning properly checks down to wide-open running back Ahmad Bradshaw—who doesn't catch the totally catchable ball and instead tips it to linebacker James Anderson.
Blame: RECEIVER

Here is the rest of Eli Manning's game by game interception breakdown:

eli manning is a whole different QB than he was 2 years ago. he has it all working now. he's not as good as his bro -- it takes a better more talented team to win championships and the colts were at their best that year they did win it, but i don't think the colts have ever been as talented as the giants during the spans of these brother's careers.

the giants are the first team to win a sb with a 9 - 7 season record. eli gets credit there, but they are still much more talented than the colts.

Peyton Manning is smoother and more polished than Eli, but he is not better.

Eli Manning is tough.

He stands in the pocket and takes hit after hit and just keeps delivering, and he has been doing that for years.

I'll take that every day over peyton, whose chokes in the playoffs are the direct result of shitting his pants against pressure.

You play a physical defense, and consistently get after Peyton Manning and he starts getting rid of the ball early in an offense that is all about timing.

Toughness, both mental and physical, are a huge parts of QB greatness, especially in the playoffs.

Peyton Manning pales in comparison to Eli in that aspect.

eh. he was a freak football helmet catch from disaster. he was painful to watch those first years, but he really impressed that first playoff run to the championship. the dallas game then GB. he hasn't been consistent enough to be better than peyton but he will likely become a HOF player and continue to become more solid. he has a better arm than peyton, but not quite the accuracy and to me, that's where his inconsistency was earlier.

What everyone forgets about that play is that ball was a well thrown ball, after Eli Manning escaped from a near certain sack and great pressure to make, that David Tyree bobbled to make it look more difficult to catch than it should have been.

Eli Manning's play in the pocket was the more impressive play on that play than Tyree's circus catch that should have been an easy catch to make.

yes, that is true. except the pass was high. however, that is one of those plays where you must bail your QB out. what a high level effort by the young eli. he was a kid among men during that play, bouncing between large bodies and kept his feet. but most important ( and I think you are making this point too) he kept composure. he did this throughout the playoff run. the game began to click for him that season.

I would say both the mannings are such great football QB's it's really a matter of preference to some degree. you say tomato, i say tomahto..

No, it wasn't a "freak football helmet catch from disaster" - If Tyree had dropped the ball - It was only third down.

I don't know how Eli can be "more solid!"

Eli has emerged as the Giants best-ever quarterback.

He's solid rock.

I really like the Giants new Super Bowl ring. I hope the Chiefs get one soon!
