When do you give up as a fan?

This is not a thread about not being a Chiefs fan, just a thread wondering about those who don't spend as much time being a fan.

I know this subject has been covered ad nauseum, but lets take a different look at it. The Chiefs suck, they aren't going anywhere anytime soon. The Buckeyes are on a bowl ban, they are way overrated at #12, and watching them on Saturday made me sad. I realized that this team has a long way to go before I consider them good. I have become some apathetic towards the Chiefs and the Buckeyes that a lot of times I just don't care. I only watched 2Chiefs games last year. The Buckeyes I watched all their games, but never with great expecations.

When do you reach a point where you realize that your time is better off doing something productive? Have you as a fan reached that point? Are you a fan who will never do that? I admit that I will not go out of my way to go to Damon's and pay for lunch so I can watch the Chiefs this year. I remember the days of Trent Green and Priest Holmes, I was actually excited to watch the Chiefs, but I digress. I will keep watching the Buckeyes, but man does it suck to have teams you know aren't going to do anything this year.

Started losing my Chiefs passion in the Herm days. Found myself doing work around the house during the games and only checking in on the score. Was a bit re-energized with the Pioli hire, but quickly lost faith with his barrage of stupid moves and arrogant, paranoid demeanor. Now my Chiefs soul is completely dead...and it's kinda sad because Chiefs football used to be a big part of my life.

This offseason, after Manning wouldn't take KC's calls, my give-a-*hit level had eroded to nothing. Didn't even watch the draft for the first time in decades. Watched yesterday purely out of habit, but found myself more excited to watch the GB/SF game with my rabid-9ers fan wife.

Seriously...30 drafts without a 1st round QB??? The Chiefs organization doesn't deserve the loyalty of its fans.

Well well well....you bunch of nattering naysayers of negativity. The Chiefs will apply the same tactics used by politicians to MAKE SURE the Arrowhead experience remains positive.

Remember, if you want to keep your seats, JUST SAY RAH!

credit to gblowfish for the pic.

Love the quasi-Secret Service guys behind the bench complete with the suits, discrete earphones and sunglasses. I wonder if they have 10mm automatics under their blazers.

Phone tapping? Bugging offices?...nah, this Pioli paranoia myth is a fabrication of those non True Fans.

Hunt and Pioli have made this team impossible to like.

People always say that they would make more if they build a contender, but sometimes I wonder....
Contenders spend money on backups that are better than Jacques Reeves.

I'm absolutely convinced that, with the way revenue sharing is set up, it makes no business sense at all for a team to spend the money necessary to accumulate the depth to win a championship.

As to when to give up - when the losses don't hurt anymore, you have given up. There isn't a time that you actively quit, you just realize that the losses don't bother you.

I had a great time on Sunday because I got 2 quarters of decent football, good weather and a hell of a tailgate. I left with 10 minutes left in the 4th not giving a !@#$ that the Chiefs lost because frankly, that's what the Chiefs do. I didn't actively choose to give up - it just happened.

I get more angry about Cardinals losses in July than I do at Chiefs losses. A meaningless July loss in a season with 162 games bothers me a hell of a lot more than the Chiefs just losing 6% of their season. I don't blame myself for it - I used to get so angry at these losses that I'd sit in total silence for hours. I didn't quit on the Chiefs - they just ceased to be worth caring about.

Well, his MLS team is in 5th place. Perhaps it's no coincidence...

once his family sold the Wizards the team began to thrive.

On top of the Chiefs shittiness and frustration with the organization I don't feel like the product the NFL provides as a whole league wide has been that great for a long time.

Since the creation of fantasy football, I find myself enjoying football in general than being fixated on this team winning each week. If they win I'm surprised, if they lose I'm not surprised. I guess my expectations are very low.

The good news is they make each team they play look like a team heading for the Super Bowl.
