When do you give up as a fan?

This is not a thread about not being a Chiefs fan, just a thread wondering about those who don't spend as much time being a fan.

I know this subject has been covered ad nauseum, but lets take a different look at it. The Chiefs suck, they aren't going anywhere anytime soon. The Buckeyes are on a bowl ban, they are way overrated at #12, and watching them on Saturday made me sad. I realized that this team has a long way to go before I consider them good. I have become some apathetic towards the Chiefs and the Buckeyes that a lot of times I just don't care. I only watched 2Chiefs games last year. The Buckeyes I watched all their games, but never with great expecations.

When do you reach a point where you realize that your time is better off doing something productive? Have you as a fan reached that point? Are you a fan who will never do that? I admit that I will not go out of my way to go to Damon's and pay for lunch so I can watch the Chiefs this year. I remember the days of Trent Green and Priest Holmes, I was actually excited to watch the Chiefs, but I digress. I will keep watching the Buckeyes, but man does it suck to have teams you know aren't going to do anything this year.

This.

And I don't care if it makes me a shitty fan but I started Ryan and Jones yesterday.

I understand how valuable FF is to the league but I think it is the absolute worst thing.

It really plays in the teams losing their identities with players being mercenaries instead of part of organizations. The differences between the teams are completely diluted.

Agreed. One of my friends in the gameroom yesterday that swore he'd never play FF actually thanked me for finally getting him involved because at least he could enjoy some football.

I have gone from living and dying each chiefs game to just watching with interest...if we win great and if we lose I just get a chuckle out of how much the ownership, management and QB suck.

I would have done the same. When it comes to fantasy football, I hardly have no loyalties. Well....I refuse to have a bronco or raider on my team.

Too late Zach, Tony G. dunking in Arrowhead for some other effing team proves that the players are just talented people getting paid.

This is usually me,however this season I added the Bronco D as my 2nd defense(we're required to carry 2) to go along with the Patriots and started them last night against the Steelers, the last few minutes of the game was quite entertaining.

I give up at the point when the team is realistically eliminated from playoff contention.

So possibly next Sunday, probably after the San Diego game.

I'm there now. Just glad the TEXANS and COWBOYS appear to be headed for good seasons. Ill have something to watch on Sundays cuz it damn well wont be the Chiefs. I've put way too much into the Chiefs with little return. I'm fed up with being taken for granted. We all deserve more. The Chiefs need to earn my /our support. What a concept...

I don't have much a problem with the whole TG thing but as a whole...the league is just less unappealing. There used to be all these interesting teams and teams with personality...now its just the same players switching colors playing the same bland style of football.

Yeah,RGIII taking it to the Saints in their house and the 49er's going into Lambeau and bitch slapping the Packers was very bland.

Hey glad everyone can enjoy their fantasy teams with their shitty clever names and their focus on individuals that feeds into the me first diva attitudes of this leagues players.

I gave up expecting the Chiefs and Royals to win years ago. I just watch for enjoyment and if my team wins woohoo. I'm glad I have KU hoops.

Its not in me to give up on the Chiefs. I admit to giving up on the Royals mostly when Brett stopped playing. Like most folks I've seen things in players that others didn't, some right and some wrong. I knew we were in trouble with Cassel based on his footwork from the beginning, takes to long to setup and make a dang decision. I saw that when he was in New England, but I thought it was fixable, its not. I also was so impressed with Charles from day one, he is just an awesome, fun to watch back with the best vision I've seen in the entire league since Holmes frankly. I didn't like the Hali pick and predicted failure at linebacker, I was wrong. I hated the Tyson Jackson pick, still do. I did not like the Powe pick, I've read where he is poor on the mental aspect of the game. I was right on Flowers, right on Carr. I cannot make my mind up on Copper. As far as Pioli, I do not think the Patriot way is a good fit here. It is so aggravating getting team feedback.

You know what else makes the product so unenjoyable? The time spent watching commercials compared to time spent watching the sport. That whole commercial/kickoff/commercial bit is infuriating.
