Honest question: Why don't we just go to a 4-3 defense?

We have tried for the last 10 years to draft a 3-4 DE to no avail. Crennel needs to form his scheme to the players he has available, not the other way around.

I think we need to go to a 4-4-4 or a 3-5-4 to really have a chance.

Oh, and Houston could be totes screwed in a 4-3. (He'd have to put on a lot of weight, for sure.)
Houston wouldn't play DE in a 43. Hali would...like he did prior to Pioli. He'd have to gain some weight, but he's done it before. Houston would be an OLB if we switched.

You'd have to assume both will play as well with added weight. They're going to lose a step. I don't like the move at all. These guys are exceptional 3-4 OLBs, and those are really hard to find. Rather than re-invent the wheel, why not just re-design your defense to your players' strengths?

The Chiefs absolutely should stay 3-4.

I don't disagree. I'm just saying that Houston wouldn't be asked to play DE if we switched to the 43. Hali would. Someone above said Houston would play DE. There's no way that would happen.

We don't have the personnel. Plus we are sticking to the shitting 3-4.

I loathe the 3-4
