Probably so... Thomas took over for Petrino as HC in Atlanta. He has experience and is more than a secondary coach. He could easily be the DC in a pinch.

I really don't want him to elevate Emmitt Thomas. The man is a Chiefs and NFL Hall of Famer but he's a secondary coach and 70 years old. I'd hate to see his image tarnished by Pioli.

Given all the turmoil right now, I think a loss to the Raiders next week seals the deal on Pioli. Lose and come next Tues., he's gone. Clark brings in a consultant for the rest of the season to manage day to day stuff and lead the search for a new GM.
Those Goldman Sachs guys play it pretty close to the vest and it is all about the money. They're a pretty ruthless bunch. He may have the season ticket holders cash, but he doesn't have the beer/hot dog money locked up. Single game tickets are still available. Blackouts could still happen and that would drive down merchandise sales.

Zorn is probably the only guy that knows who the best qb we have is and if Pioli is gone, would play him. He was lost in Washington and that probably wouldn't change, but (like I said in my edit) at least he isn't patriot way.

Thomas is also not patriot way and was a Ballhawk that would turn up the heat.

I think those are the only position coaches we have that aren't patriot way guys.

None of these coaches is a good alternative to the current HC. Young team, especially this DL, which is Romeo's thang. I'm aware Crennel has failed, but I would let him finish this season for a number of reasons.
