The fact that this regime appears to be doing the same thing in trading for another teams backup while failing to address the QB position for the future makes me sad.

The problem with all of the "Gloom and Doom" happening in this forum for the past few days is that first off, the compensation hasn't been confirmed and secondly, no one knows what Dorsey and Reid have planned for the future of the QB position.

Clearly, they feel that there is no one in this draft ready to lead this team to the playoffs in 2013. With the window of opportunity closing on players like Hali, Johnson, etc., they acquired a QB they believe can win now and win big.

All this posturing about "Well, Smith will NEVER lead a team to the Super Bowl" is just that: Posturing. Moreover, it's ****ing bullshit because I seriously doubt that many of these very same fans have watched Alex Smith consistently over the past two seasons. They just want to whine and complain because for the past 6 months, it's been the "In Thing" to do.

Will this acquisition provide the results that Reid and Dorsey want? Who knows. Seriously, who ****ing knows? But to state that Alex Smith is Matt Cassel or that Smith won't win but six games a year and so on is just plain ****ing stupid.
