A Sad Story: Why Can't People Leave Harmless Animals Alone?
I read this story on the front page of the KC Star this morning. I drive by Elmwood Cemetery on Truman Road every day on my way to work. I've seen Ella the Deer on a couple of occasions. She was more or less a "pet" inside the cemetery, and didn't harm a soul. Why somebody would shoot this gentle, beautiful animal for no reason is beyond me. Why do people have to be such assholes?

Where there is a fawn there is a momma deer and a big old Buc. Fawn grown up and become breedable with the big old Buc and there is another fawn. It is called the cycle of nature. In no time you will have a nice size herd of deer.

Oh and they do NOT just live in the cemetary.

This particular deer was born in the cemetery years back and her momma was hit by a car shortly thereafter. The fawn was orphaned. There's been stories about her in the paper over the past couple years. She stayed inside the cemetery walls, and wasn't a threat to anybody.

It's a shame we can't have a little sliver of humanity in a place like an old cemetery. Some asshole with a gun has to kill just to get his jollies.

It doesn't sound like this deer was doing any damage and was welcomed by the cemetery people. I agree with George. Just a senseless killing.
