A Sad Story: Why Can't People Leave Harmless Animals Alone?

I read this story on the front page of the KC Star this morning. I drive by Elmwood Cemetery on Truman Road every day on my way to work. I've seen Ella the Deer on a couple of occasions. She was more or less a "pet" inside the cemetery, and didn't harm a soul. Why somebody would shoot this gentle, beautiful animal for no reason is beyond me. Why do people have to be such assholes?

Story is here:

Because people are bigger assholes in general than domesticated animals. I think this deer could be considered somewhat domesticated.

How exactly did people think Ella's life was going to end, anyway? Becomes mayor and free acorns for all? Finds the ark of the Covenant?

I'm against senseless killing, but some of you are living in the Truman Show.

Ella herself is glad it wasn't an urban dog pack feasting on her guts while she was keepin it warm for them.

And this is my point right here. You'd think you were talking about a person. People have gone mental.

Preach mah brutha! It's because caring for something vastly less developed than themselves garners more of a "good feeling" for them than the plight of an actual fellow human being. It's mind boggling. And reeruned to no end.

Figured she’d die jumping her Harley over the Snake River Canyon.

Something doesn't look right with that deer. It appears to me there is already an injury to the ribs. Also, it is technically illegal to domesticate a wild animal owned by the state of Missouri. The people feeding that animal and participating in it's domestication should probably all be fined.

That reminded me of this story. After days of surveillance the bad asses went in and took out Giggles. I feel much safer with Giggles no longer on the loose.

I was just going to post this. On the ground surveillance, aerial photos, a warrant, and 13 SWAT troops seems a TAD excessive for a fawn.

Yeah, it was comically over the top, but I wonder if Donger and Patteau would disagree

It sounds like it could be a scene from The Naked Gun.

We had pet deer when I was young as well as a raccoon. They were fun for a while but animals do what animals do, they grow, they change, they die.

...which leads me to the main point, no matter how much your raccoon likes rhubarb, make sure to tear off ALL of the leaves. If you don't, he will die.

Nature is a crueler bitch than people.

Saw that on the news yesterday. Good thing they brought in SWAT, that fawn could’ve caused some damage.

I'm sorry, I'm sure it was a cute little deer, but that is funny as shit. Surveillance for 5 days, helicopters, swat teams. All to take out a little deer. They should've renamed it Sadaam.
