According to USA Today Sports, the Shanahans' have little desire to protect RGIII. At least minimize risks and teach him how to slide.

It is not going to be easy watching him being hit after he suffered a gruesome knee injury in the playoffs.

Despite concerns that Robert Griffin III might reinjure his knee and potentially tear his anterior cruciate ligament for the third time in five years, Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday he has no plans to change the offense.

"I kind of enjoy the zone read because the quarterback is not taking it unless there's no one to hit him," Shanahan told news reporters after the Redskins' minicamp practice at Redskins Park. "If there is someone to hit him, you're usually handing it off. The zone read is something I feel, in the long run, helps the quarterback."
