Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs
Well, it looks like the deal is done.
https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed Jay Glazer @JayGlazer 49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith Jay Glazer @JayGlazer Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith. |

The "us" vs. "them" aspect of this argument is inane and smacks of self righteous ideologues - it's like talking to a Tea Party moron - look, we all want the Chiefs to succeed and have a great QB. The Chiefs brought in three new QBs this offseason (a vet, middle career and rookie) - getting rid of everyone they inherited. They didn't extend Smith, as most predicted. I guess I find the hand wringing over them not drafting a QB in this dog shit class - sorta ridiculous.. Reid drafted QBs and will continue to draft QBs, as did Dorsey in GB, have a little patience...there is only one draft a year.

The Chiefs once again administered the 'band-aid' approach to solving their Qb problems, the same approach that netted us Cassel, Green (while good did not win a playoff game), Grbac, etc. Some fans are ok with 'band-aid,' retread Qb's but some of us aren't. It is a polarizing issue. I'm not a huge Bray fan, but to say that he does not have potential is just being spiteful. |

The Bray love is because of the Physical abilities. His arm is rare special.
His mechanics, his footwork, his coaching or lack there of seeing as the guy who recruited him bailed on him almost immediately, and the guy they replaced him with was a guy in way over his head. All stuff that is fixable. Just like you cant teach height, you cant teach a great arm. he needs to sit, and learn and is on the perfect team to do just that.

IFFFFF the chiefs had spent a 5th rounder on Tyler Bray, no one would say a peep. but because they got him for free, now he sucks........ he has as much upside as ANYONE that was drafted, and yes, he has that same bust potential, but you didn't waste a pick to get him.

But taking a guy they don't believe to have the necessary skills to be a franchise qb just to be "bold" and just to try, isn't something these franchises that are successful have done or do. I respectfully say this because I like you as a poster and mostly agree with things you say, but this post reeks of emotional backlash. And I do agree about flacco in a sense in that he wasn perfect but they pulled the trigger. Reid an Dorsey have been involved and done the same thing in te past, yet they determined not to do it with Geno. I also realize what's gone on in the past with qbs here, it sucks. But this front office has shown that they know how to draft qbs in their past. I'll sit back and see it play out before I get upset. I also will admit that after the past decade or so an with things I've gott going on in my personal life, give me a relevant football team that can win a game in the playoffs and I'll be happy. I know that's not a great way to feel, but it's what I've gt going on Last edited by O.city; 08-26-2013 at 12:56 PM.. |

Joe Flacco wasn't a lottery ticket, sure. I'll give you that. But he was absolutely "Well, we gotta TRY" kind of pick. To say so otherwise is warping the facts. When I say "go bold" I'm not saying we should be like the Raiders. I'm saying just draft a ****ing QB. What's wrong with that? |

The Chiefs don't try with skill positions. They just draft invisible positions in a draft where any of the top 10 guys could have been considered as the #1 pick and it wouldn't have been any more of a stretch.

Now if the Chiefs took someone in the first or second rounds, then most would agree that they have a clear determined mindset at developing the guy and giving him starts in the future. No such assurances for Bray, who will most likely be a career backup. |

He's also an immature, douchey troublemaker with questionable work habits who was not popular with his teammates because he was selfish and showed no leadership skills at all. That's what turned a 6-6 guy with a monster arm into an UDFA rather than a 3rd round pick like Mike Glennon. That says a lot about what NFL teams think of his ability to overcome his problems.
