Danny Parkins-‏Hearing a couple of very interesting pieces of potential Chiefs news

Danny Parkins ‏@DannyParkins 2m

I'm hearing Dexter McCluster is unhappy he's not on the return team. #Chiefs looking at all options, including trade.

I think Allen, Hudson, and Asamoah were built for zone blocking. I actually think that's a big reason Eric Winston was cut.

The oline is actually not bad for zbs. But Reid wants bigger mailers.

I keep hearing that, but it confuses me. Why would a coach with a pass-happy offense who likes to throw to running backs want a big, mauling line? A big mauling line is what you want if you're giving Larry Johnson 400+ carries. If you're throwing a swing pass to Jamaal Charles it seems like you'd want quicker linemen.

They don't.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Stanzi backing up Gabbert. That's awesome. I hope he busts his balls about that Insight Bowl pick twice a day for as long as he's on the team.

He's only going to be on the team this week and next. After the 1st game they will cut him, because he will have served his purpose of telling them our "plans".

I would have no problem with McCluster getting cut. Just as I have no problem cutting stanzi. I just think the abortion of a coaching staff limited us knowing what these guys can actually do. That's all. I've always said Mcclusters success is based on a lot of huge 'ifs'

As I've always said, he has to improve as a receiver to succeed. He just doesn't look comfortable to catch and run, and he has to warn touches versus getting them through gimmicks. As of right now, I don't think his skills will translate on an Nfl level, but just want one last look with a real offensive coach and QB to make sure. Because I think the skills are there, but he's just using them horribly.
Balance is there or it isn't.

I don't even agree that he doesn't use the right moves at the right time, he just uses the moves as though he's going up against air. These guys will always get a hand on you at this level, regardless of the move. Look at Sanders, hell look at Hall. Most of the time they made these incredible moves, they still had a guy get a hand or arm on them, just not enough to bring them down.

McCluster doesn't have the balance to make that move and stay up after an impact of any sort. If an arm gets him, his weight gets shifted and he's not able to keep his feet under him.

I don't see any way he can fix that.

In college he was shifty enough to make that move and stay in clean air. In the pros these guys are bigger, longer, faster and frankly they're smarter. They gameplan for his spin move or his juke. They know he's going to do it and they're able to get an arm out there. That arm is enough to bring him down because he just doesn't have the balance he needs.

Again, he's lacking a critical skill. He's built a mansion on sand, essentially. All the marble floors and vaulted ceilings in the world don't mean a thing if the foundation crumbles. Without balance, I don't care how quick he is out of his cuts or how clever he is with the ball in his hands - he can't execute any of it.

Do you think he has that balance? Why? We've seen him get tripped up by a simple hand to the thigh pad. If he had it, he'd have shown it even via a simple broken tackle here and there and he's had several opportunities to show just that. Instead, he gets taken down for a 4 yard gain. If you don't, believe he has it, why do you think he's going to suddenly acquire it under a new staff?

You either have it at this level or you don't. It's time for KC to retire the turd-polishing rag. Enough.
