Is Chiefsplanet seriously going to outlive Twitter?

This might be destined for DC, but for some reason this will feel like a major achievement on this website if that happens.

Forums like this have taken a huge hit with social media. Out of the Tech, Life, Music, Baseball and Nintendo forums I was a part of in high school, it's amazing that this is the place that not only survived, but it still thriving (while outliving and far suprassing the Chargers, Raiders, and Bronco forum equivalents).

Cheers.

I think it’ll be a struggle. Not because of Elon but because Twitter will always be difficult to monetize. The reason there is tons of content moderation is because no moderation leads to an awful experience with bots everywhere, and because advertisers don’t want to associate with this. Too much content moderation leads to endless bickering, not just from users but with all kinds of political implications. In the middle is the guy running the ship who has to keep the users happy but can’t really make a lot of money. That’s a big reason why I think musk acts like he regrets the decision every passing day.

The real key is to be like someone else already said. Follow mostly for sports and a few close friends and you stay out of the riff-raff from both sides that make Twitter an unpleasant experience for some.

I did find a couple of posts from the pipe fitters to those who lost their jobs at Twitter entertaining.

But beyond that most of it is real bitterness from both sides.

Yep. I don't really even think of Twitter as being all that controversial because I mainly use it for lists I tailor around my interests. I've got lists for Chiefs media, NFL media, Chiefs players, Space journalists, Avs media, and Avs journalists. I scroll my "home" feed sometimes, but honestly Elon himself is the most controversial figure that shows up on there most of the time. But then, I don't really follow any politicians, so I'm guessing the algorithm spares me.

If you just follow sports content you like and ignore opinions and commentary, there’s a ton of great shit. Commentators like baldy, news from guys like schefter, and I love the hell out of jomboy. Not to mention kelce and mahomes are legit excellent at using social media in a very positive and entertaining way. You just have to avoid the bait which can be really really hard to do

Pretty much the same. My feed is mostly NFL/Chiefs. My friends too, but they don’t tweet a lot. Some of them retweet politics stuff but it’s not too much.

I don't bother with twitter.

Man, i'd get banned from twitter quicker than i'd get banned from a CP lounge thread.

Yeah...when I first got on Twitter I didn't filter like I do now I have my political preferences but don't really allow them to be part of what I follow on Twitter. Mostly because politics on Twitter is mostly the domain of the silly and overwhelming emotionally extreme segments of both sides.

I do love some of the stuff that Mahomes and Kelce put out there. I like levity....I really enjoy people with a wicked sense of humor...life is already serious enough I don't need drama online also.

It’s amazing that I’m addition to being the best in the game, kelce and mahomes are tremendous at this stuff. Most QBs are complete robots. Mahomes is not only fun, but very authentic. I don’t think there’s a qb that’s even remotely close to his charisma. Peyton is a hell of a charismatic guy and even he doesn’t have nearly the same kind of natural relatability as mahomes.

I'm on account number 5. Mostly staying away from controversial subjects now. Mostly...

I use it for my two main lists: Stock trading and Fantasy Football

Other than that I stay away as much as possible. Spending more than a tiny amount of time on Twitter can make a person feel unclean.

I remember the original thread on twitter here. So many moons ago...I remember it being talked about on CP as a way to get focused info relevant to the user. It was going to make traditional news media obsolete! Only pay(?) for what you need.
I still don't have a twitter account.
