crappy teams have to beat 10-win teams four times, and the chiefs have to win out. It is absolutely less than 1%.

Unless you have massive teamwide injuries that really need a week off to heal, it might be just as well that they keep playing straight through.

I just want to point out that teams are 3-10 the week after playing the Raiders. One of the wins was Pittsburgh barely beating Buffalo.

The week after the last Oakland game, we got smoked by Denver.

We need to hope San Diego loses this week so we can play our backups week 17.

I was thinking the exact same thing today.

I'd really like our guys to be healthy going into the playoffs. If we are locked in position (3 seed), which very well could be the case going into week 17 if the Chargers lose, I'd like us to sit all our dime pieces: (Cassel, Charles, Bowe, Flowers, Carr, Berry, Lewis, Dorsey, Jones, Hali, DJ, Dex, Albert, Weigman, Waters, Lilja, Moe-ouchie, hell, maybe even Brokie).

Shit, play all back ups if we are in that situation. Something tells me that's not Haley's style, though.

Eh, I'd say that stat has little to nothing to do with the Raiders.... Oakland had a 3rd place schedule from last season, plus the NFCW, so they aren't exactly playing teams that consistently win.

But, it's an interesting stat, and I'm a numbers geek, so I wanted to see if I was right...

Raiders' opponents: 85-97 (.467)
After playing the Raiders: 3-10

Chargers' opponents: 90-92 (.494)
After playing the Chargers: 4-9

Chiefs' opponents: 72-110 (.395 )
After playing the Chiefs: 5-8

Broncos' opponents: 96-86 (.527)
After playing the Broncos: 7-6

The only one that doesn't make sense is after playing the Chiefs... but the opp win % is skewed a bit since they're the only team who has played the Broncos twice in the first 13 weeks.

I don't completely disagree with wanting things wrapped up the day after Christmas, but OTOH, it's a young team and playing meaningful games is always good. Injuries are a concern, of course, but rolling into the playoffs after 3 straight meaningful December wins sounds pretty nice. Hell, it's not like there's a ton of pressure to do well in the playoffs this year anyway.

We need this

San Diego Chargers 7 at Cincinnati Bengals 27
Sunday, January 10, 1982
Stadium: Riverfront Stadium, Start Time: 1:00, Surface: Surface: astroturf,
Weather: -6 degrees, relative humidity 51%, wind 24 mph, wind chill -32

I remember watching this game. 26 seems balmy compared to that playoff game.

I wish TO hadn't gotten injured last week. Carson is due for a 4 INT game. Dammit.

There is still a scenario that the Chiefs can get a wild card. It consists of tiebreakers involving 3 or more teams @ 10-6.

We have the Jags, and thats it. In any 3-way we are either going to be eliminated in the 3-way by conference or common opponents, or if not, we'll get knocked out in the 2-way when the 3rd team is knocked out. I dont think we and the Jags can knock any 3rd team out.

I would rather remain the #3 seed and take my chances with Pittsburgh in RD 2 than the #4 seed and take on a hot Partriot team
