I don't think it's cut and dry to say either way on that, but the guy is absolutely an elite talent and may go down as an all time WR. I don't think I'd get in the habit of trading those guys away. Hindsight and all, yeah, I'd have dealt Jones and kept Hill...but that's in the past at this point.

My issue with trading away blue chip players is that yes, you can get a good haul of picks and money and such. But you also have to find new blue chip players. That's not easy to do.

It's alot easier to fill around them with good solid players though.
I also think Reek was the one who said he’d never play for EB again. I think he was going regardless.

Sounds like LeSean McCoy or Leveon Bell or one of those washed veteran RBs who were here for a half a minute.

I know I am kind of slow but after listening to his comments about just wanting a raise and that we were $8-10 million apart it dawned on me that I bet CJ is mostly ok with the extension offered.

But I am wondering if the disconnect is he doesn't want to play on his current $19.5 million contract and that $8-10 million difference is he thinks he should get that added to his contract for this year.

Probably why there is a stalemate and not sure the team wants to or can afford to do that. I know with his current contract we are up against the cap.

yeah I know, duh dirk but like I said I am kind of slow.

If that were the case you come up with some bullshit 5 year extension where you hurl money into the last 4-5 years of it (years he won't see), lower his cap hit but give him a signing bonus of $25 million to spread over the 5 years and call it good.

This is more than all that, IMO.

It's why I don't think Veach is going to blink. They've made an offer they think is fair (I agree with them) and from a philosophical standpoint they're simply not going to be held hostage by Chris Jones and his hack agents.

And now every single agent that comes into that room to talk about a deal can look at when the Chiefs were happy to accommodate the player (Tyreek Hill) and happy to tell him to go **** his mother (Chris Jones).

And those agents learn they can conduct themselves accordingly.

This is planting a flag. They are NOT going to pretend that he's not under contract for 2023. They're not going to re-set the market with a 30 year old player.

I read that the Chiefs don't tear up the final year of a contract and never have or not lately anyway. So that was another reason why I was thinking that the issue is this year's contract.

But yeah I agree with you in general.

How long is it going to take jones to get back into it when he's done with his holdout? 3 weeks?

I have a feeling we're going to be getting a CJ that is making plenty of business decisions if he doesn't have a new signed contract.

lol what a shit show. what a waste

But he definitely needs to get better agents. I can't believe they actually thought it would be a good idea to show up and sit on both sides of him. He could not have scripted that look any worse.
Oh. Then we should go and kill the troublemaker who did that. They're trying to ruin our relationship with Chris. I bet it was a broncos fan.

Kind of a window into his shit though. He's getting most of his stuff from agents I'd imagine, right?
