Nate Taylor: Chiefs targeting OT Ronnie Stanley in free agency

Quote:
When free agency begins, the Chiefs will target Ronnie Stanley, the nine-year veteran who is the best left tackle available on the market, according to sources. Stanley, who will turn 31 this month, started all 17 season games last season for the Baltimore Ravens. He earned a 70.7 overall grade from Pro Football Focus and allowed just three sacks.

He’s just a freaking dude out there. Silky smooth. Position ages well.

I’ll bet the Chiefs get him for the real prime of his career now that his leg seems fully right.

I know DJLN for example has said Baltimore makes life easy on their tackles — true to a degree. But also, that has nothing to do with the fact that dude has elite feet out there and his length is a massive strength too. He would excel anywhere and he will in KC too.
Dudes hurt alot to the point he considered retirement a few years ago that's alot of coin to throw for a player

They'll have no WR's, no QB, and their defense was already awful. Looks like a tank job to start over to me.

The Seahawks aren’t trading Charles Cross. They’re about to get Darnold and probably bolster that OL even more with a guy like Grey Zabel.

It’s not happening

Why would they spend the money on Darnold to throw to...nobody?

Probably gonna be Humphries and Smith coming back and battling it out for the season and try again next season. No way they put a rookie at LT with Kingsley

Legal tampering period doesn't start until Monday.

Have to be cap compliant by Wednesday I think.

Which means we'll need to see a Mahomes/Kelce/Jones roster bonus conversion before that.

I hope so! I saw Myles Garrett predicted to join the Eagles and was like WTF!? We need to fight fire with fire and rework some contracts!

We got our third pass catcher in Hollywood.

We need to see a move with Trey Smith. Either an extension or a trade. I can talk myself into liking either.

Sign Jaylon Moore right away and put LT to bed for FA. He’s good enough to provide an answer but also doesn’t preclude the Chiefs from drafting another if the right guy falls.

I’d also like to see a Ty Johnson signing to go with Pacheco and whoever we draft.

Let Bolton see what his market is and resign him if he’s cheap enough.

So you think one of the best coaches in the NFL. A first ballot HOF'er. Went to 5/6 SBs. Won 3 SB's should be fired? But, you would be satisfied with taking away the play calling?

Yep. He would be a solid, no guess work piece, at a very important position that's not easily filled, going forward after the reset.

If we signed Stanley and signed Dk Metcalf people would still make excuses for Mahomes. He has regressed a tad. You don't always get a Top 2 defense two years in a row.
