Perspective

The first thread I ever started was after the Patriots game and had the same title. This loss is infinitely more painful and I feel physically ill, but:

1/ We still control our own destiny.
2/ The entire mood on CP would be different had we gotten one simple stop on that last drive.
3/ We almost lost to the Ravens last week and pulled that out of nowhere. I viewed that as a gutsy win and still do. My guess is many of you now view that as a fluke-ish win simply because we lost by 1pt today.
4/ We still have Mahomes and he's still 23 and I'd rather be the Chiefs than any other team in the AFC heading into the playoffs.
5/ I won't let our history in prior years overwhelm me right now. I think things are different and the future can prove me wrong in the playoffs.
6/ We're 11-3. Pretty sure no one expected us to be here at this point in the season.
7/ Mahomes.

Water is wet and this defense is what we thought it was. I want to punch all the people in the face who were happy we didn't give up a draft pick or two to pick up some defensive help, and I'm not sure why Berry wasn't on the field the entire second half (maybe the telecast had an explanation?). But I'm not going to melt down as if this were a playoff game that completely destroyed any hope of our winning a Super Bowl this season.

I still believe this team is different.

Interesting point. Didn't know that.

My mental image of the rest of the fanbase watching the team working so hard to squander Mahome's season last night

Actually you want some perspective...we couldn't stop Lamar Jackson from scoring 24 on us at Arrowhead...and that offense is the discount version of Seattle's.

We might need 40 in Seattle.

Wild-card weekend will be fun.

Probably true, yes.

But at least they won’t be extra motivated to run it up our soft ass defense.

Maybe that’s enough for Pat and the offense to bail us out???

Well, that's interesting. I'm rooting for the Seahawks, then. I want them to be fat and lazy coming in, just like our philosophy of protecting a lead.

Sorry, but not even Mahomes can save this team. This defense is too bad.

I almost think we have a better shot on the road than at home. I know that's crazy, but if we rematch the Chargers in the playoffs I wouldn't mind going to StubHub Center at ALL.

I've heard all week by the national media that "the Chiefs can't win big games" and as much as I wanted to plug my ears and think (but Mahomes!)... I can't argue with anyone about the statement.

It's true. As soon as the Chiefs have momentum and hit a national spotlight game... flop.
I thought we were winning the Super Bowl this season... it has felt magical at times. The other times have felt like the same ol Because Chiefs.

But we didn't. We lost a big game how we lose playoff games. Again. The mood is justified.

Mahomes can't help from the sidelines. All the other Playoff teams KNOW this. That's why the Chargers went for 2 pts.
