Honestly, I had no problem with the slide. It was awkward, but I really didn't find it to be "dirty"

I love it when DJ and Hamas come into these threads and argue with people who actually watch Royals games.

JFC

It's pathetic. It really is. You ****ing idiots didn't watch the game, you have no ****ing clue what you're talking about, so

Is it that hard? Who in their right name is going to argue with Duncan or tk13 (the guy who is purposely rational at all times) about something that happened WHEN THEY DIDN'T EVEN WATCH THE ****ING GAME OR THE SERIES.

Ventura got suspended because of the White Sox game for what, 7 games? And he never hit anyone at all.

Agreed. I don't get the MLB suspension rules at all. It's all pretty ****ed up to me

Hey, I'm thinking about watching the game tonight (in real time!!). Can we get an opposing fan to post a cheat sheet so that I can understand the intricacies of baseball? Preferably, I would like this sheet buried in a game thread and written with a holier-than-thou attitude.

I agree with both suspensions. Ventura is also a starter, so you can't suspend a starter for anything less than 5 games

Sorry but this gets back to my gripe with Lofton - every time that guy got hit he had something to say to the pitcher and Cain's the same in that regard. Quibble with the terminology if you will, but Cain's thin skinned. Again I'll reference Wong - that dude has been hit 13 times this season and he doesn't feel compelled to chatter at the P every time it happens. Jon Jay got hit 20 times last year and his response was the same every time; flips bat and goes. That's the normal reaction. Your position that most hitters are talking to the pitcher as they go up the line just isn't true. Most don't. Some do.

And Samardzija probably isn't yelling shit from the dugout if Hosmer and Moustakas aren't yelling at him from the dugout after the Cain HBP in the season opener. The bad blood there started from opening day and as near as I can tell was just carryover from the Royals still really hating that guy from his Oakland days. You want to tell someone to let it go...that's probably where I'd start. And of course Volquez and Herrera are in the middle of that one as well.

Nobody's ever wholly to blame in these things, but again, at some point you have to acknowledge that the Royals are disproportionately featured in them. Royals fans can claim all they want that it's because teams don't like that they're not bad anymore but gimme a break - the plucky upstart thing works in your own locker room but it's not like Samardzija and Lawrie were thinking fondly back on the good ol' days when the Royals lost games and were livid at the Royals newfound success.
I said Ventura needed to mature. He's got growing to do if he's going to reach his potential. We agree there. I've seen some try to act like that was an isolated, out of left field thing, though, that Ventura started. Not the case.

There's a big difference between the "thin-skin" you reference there and 'temper tantrums,' no?

Most hitters at least look/glare at the pitcher. Some talk occasionally, if there's some sort of prior history. Cain doesn't always talk. He doesn't always glare. But either way... not temper tantrums.

The stuff with Samardzija started with him yelling at the Royals from the dugout during the playoff series last season. It carried over to this year, obviously. Samardzija is also a red ass. Where's the criticism of him?

Where's the criticism of Chris Sale for pounding several beers after getting sent to the showers early and then showing up at the KC clubhouse door looking for a fight?

I'll give you that blame can be assigned to both place regarding the White Sox and Royals (though I certainly understand why teammates might take issue with a hitter getting drilled after the previous guy hit a HR that he treated 100 percent professionally, with no hand signs, no antics, no pimping, just a fast jog around the bases).

But making that situation all about KC is one-sided and ignores that aspect. Many have tried to do that.

Ultimately, KC hitters got drilled a LOT in the early going. It happened enough that the team felt the need to stand up for itself and take a stand. It's a mindset that likely carries over for the rest of the season.

It had not been an issue for over two months, until this weekend, when Donaldson pimped a few home runs and the team thought it had caught him stealing signs/passing signs.

I get why he was upset. It makes sense. But the reactions from guys like Gregg Zaun and Bautista in regards to the way Wolf handled it are hysterical bullshit, and those guys should recognize in hindsight they were lucky to not have Donaldson tossed then and there.

Dude the Cardinals don't ever get into beanball wars. Ever. Unless tk13 shows a specific example ... but in that case ... at least they don't throw changeups at the opposition's head!

!

Why? We had a Pitcher suspended for jawing at a player who initiated said jawing and he wasn't suspended.

You all have a case of envious butthurt by which all other butthurt should be measured. It’s the Muta Scale.

#1) No Cardinal fan brought up the Cardinals in this thread without some bitchmade Royal fan bringing them up. You know why? Because the Cardinals aren’t relevant to the discussion. Rather, we are dispassionate about your team. When we say that you all are acting like a bunch of ****ing punks, it’s not the word of God because we’re Cardinal fans, it’s the opinion of the rest of baseball. You all just want it to be an example of Cardinal fans acting superior because you’re so goddamned jealous of them, when the reality is that the Royals are just being assholes. You all have convinced yourselves that Cardinals fans are something they’re not because you need to invent a narrative to hate them beyond the fact that they are simply a better franchise than the Royals. Thus, you nitpick on the fans, because you can’t do it on the on-field results. And now, like Vanderbilt fans, you’re talking about the success of the AL in interleague, as if that somehow means your team wasn’t a pile of shit for three decades, and that there is no way that the Cardinals could have been successful in the AL.

#2) Don’t worry, I’m sure that you all are just being persecuted because you had one successful year in a morass of ineptitude. That must be why the Texas Rangers started getting in fights with everyone in 2011 and why the Pirates threw down five times in 2014. Oh, wait—that didn’t happen? Hmm. Wonder why? And in a feeble and stupid attempt to discredit the Cardinals, you end up dragging up examples stretching across several years (some of them completely invented, like our supposed dustups with the Pirates). Did you ever think that if you need to go back three Congresses to find enough paired examples as your team has had in four months that maybe you all are the ones with a ****ing problem?
“You know John, that woman is 65 years old, she’s slept with 20 men over the course of her life. That’s the same as the 16 year old who has slept with 20, right?”

#3) Let’s just say that the HBP numbers are meaningful (they aren’t). Why have you had more dustups than anyone else in baseball this year, including teams #1 and #2 in said standings?

#4) A few weeks ago I was standing in line in the grocery store. Behind me were two guys with less than fifteen teeth combined, talking about how stupid people with college degrees were. I thought to myself, “well, if I’m so stupid compared to you, why have I mastered oral hygiene while you’re gumming corn on the cob?” You ****s sound exactly like those two dumbasses when talking about us showing our ass in this thread. It doesn’t have to be based in truth; it’s true because you can make a baseless claim and have it bounce about the echo chamber, where you’re right because you’re right and no amount of evidence means anything. Perhaps you all should set up a Royals Holocaust museum, where your years of persecution can be compared to the greatest crimes in human history. It should fit in perfectly inside an annex in the Creationism Museum, both even have the same amount of proof.

#5) If watching the games means so much, how can so many of you be so consistently wrong about so much? Too many of you have been infected by Hootie strains of dumb****ery: invent a narrative, cherry pick stats, ignore any evidence to the contrary.

A lot of you are better than this.
