Could Sean Peyton wind up in AZ?

The pressure to fire Kingsbury is sky high. Kyler Murray has talent, no doubt.

If I had to go somewhere as a coach like Peyton, AZ could be a real interesting place.

He could definitely handle Murray as well as anyone.

**** Denver and that mess. Colts ownership too fickle. Dallas possible if they get bounced in 1st game from playoffs, Jerry could toss McCarthy.

Where do you see him going?

Everything that has been reported is they want minimum 1st round pick which you guys have with the pick you got for Chubb.

With Arizona firing their GM as well today I would think that would a prime spot for him since he could have total control. If Staley implodes on Saturday the Chargers should go after him as well.

That's a Chiefsplanet narrative.

Houston and AZ are loser franchises with loser ownership.

Payton has too much pedigree to put his career on the line with those shit franchises.

So was NO until he helped not make them a loser franchises. But I agree that he will stay away from the Texans, probably any self respecting coach will.

Arizona could be appealing because I think he could turn that team around pretty quickly and outside of the 49er's that division is below average. Come to the AFC West and you are mostly going to be a 3rd place team.

Yeah but he was a relative nobody when he took that job.

At this point of his career he's a potential HoF coach. I think he'll want a job that he thinks he can cement his legacy with.

Hard to see him cementing a legacy by playing runner up in the AFCW every year.

Skip the playoff record for now; there's so many possible reasons for Payton not having more rings that have nothing to do with him it would take months to talk about all of them. And we probably still wouldn't be able to come to an agreement which issues were really the problem(s).

Sean has been a universally respected HC for a long time. Every organization respects him, and perhaps more importantly, none of them have 'owned' Sean Payton. He's a coach that doesn't fit into an easy to define box that other coaches can just take advantage of.

Further, Sean Payton has been one of the top offensive-minded HCs in the league for decades; I don't think there's any argument otherwise. Every DC over the last 20 years or so will vouch for that, so I think that's a settled issue.

Also, he's been a QB whisperer for most if not all of his career. He's been able, like Andy/Pederson/McVay/Harbaugh, to make QBs better. That's a relatively rare and valuable skill for a HC.

Then you add in the experience; how many hot, young coaches have we watched just shit the bed on what fans would consider to be relatively routine decisions? Sean isn't going to make any of those mistakes, regardless of situation or how big the moment, because he's been there countless times. So he's not going to Kliff-burger/McDaniels/Hackett/Josh a situation, ever.

So whatever else you can say about Sean, he's got the experience and the skillsets that make him one of the best options at HC right now.

They won't get a 1st rounder unless the Team Payton wants to go to is willing to offer it. Payton is in the driver seat. He could just sit out until the contract expires.

Our owners own ****ing Walmart...there is so much more they can offer as opposed to anyone else.

He won 5 playoff games after that Bounty Gate assisted Super Bowl. Total. While fielding stacked rosters that were pushing massive cap charges into future seasons. Yeah, he's laughably overrated nowadays.

Like what could they offer?

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Saints are expected to ask for at least a first-round pick for Payton from any team inquiring about his services.

As of today. That can change. Who do you bring to beat Mahomes? Tom Brady? How about Peyton Manning? There no one that's anywhere that's a Mahomes killer. It's not a deciding factor. It doesn't matter where Payton goes in the AFC, he's going to have to beat Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, etc. If he goes to the NFC it's the same problem to win a Super Bowl. It almost doesn't matter unless you think Payton is a pussy.
