If the Chargers lose one of their next two games, yes.

If they win out, we need to beat both TEN and OAK sadly...

(same divisional record, but we fail on 'common opponent' record)

*the bolded part is whats wrong

I don't think so. Both KC and San Diego are 2-3 in the division, so if SD were to beat Denver the last week of the season, and we were to lose to Oakland and have the same record as San Diego, they would have the tiebreaker with a better divisional record. Basically, we must win the next two, unless San Diego loses either to Cincy or Denver, in which case we just need to win one more, and it can be either game. Our magic number is two..any combination of Chiefs wins and San Diego losses equally two will give us the division.

The Chiefs almost certainly have to win out and remain one game ahead of Chargers to get into the playoffs.

If the Chiefs and Chargers both finish 10-6, the Chargers go and the Chiefs have little to no hope of getting a WC berth.

I was just trying to start a thread to get us pumped for our home games. I wasn't intending to make any profound revelations.

Yeah, I'm like 99% sure that there is no way you guys win the division if you tie with the Chargers.

I think the only way the Chiefs win that tiebreaker would be if both teams finish 9-7, but we beat Oakland and you lose to Denver. Since the Chiefs won today, that scenario is no longer in play since we are at 9 wins already.
