Game manager. What is that exactly?
During the course of the season the term 'game manager' has been used frequently to describe certain QB's in the league; usually in a negative sense. I was curious if there is a consensus on just what the heck that means to people here.

To me a game manager isn't a bad thing. I see it as someone who tries to keep moving the chains, and if that takes three plays of 4 yard gains, be it running or passing, that's ok as long as the chains keep moving.

Of course if the team is down by several scores, or time becomes an issue, then longer chunks of yardage would be necessary. To me a game manager would recognize that fact and try to manage the game accordingly at that point.

What do you all think? And is the opposite of a game manager a game mis-manager?

There are so many definitions of "game manager" that is is a meaningless term. Most fans use it as an insult. Most coaches don't see it as a negative. And go **** yourself with the Alex Smith shit. I didn't mention him either until this post, dumbass. But since you mention it, his play in the last few games does not fit your definition of the word, yet you still consider him a game manager, right? That shows how useless the term is.

Watch the games.

He's terrible in the 2 minute drill. Despite the high number of comeback wins, he doesn't play consistently good in the 4th quarter.

I can go and dig up splits and show you how the guy performs down the stretch, consistently. He's not special and never will be. He's solid. Alex Smith is a far better QB.

I watch every Atlanta game that doesn't play at the same time as the Chiefs and have drafted for them the last 4 years in the cp mock because I watch so much of them.

If you want to try and throw out splits, how about the fact that third down was EASILY his best down, according to espn splits?

I'm not sure you have a leg to stand on with claims that Matt Ryan isn't clutch.

BTW...since you brought up an Alex Smith comparison...care to guess which points in the games he was at his worst?
