He notified team officials of his decision on Friday. Willis was signed by the Chiefs as an unrestricted free agent on July 31st. He was added to the roster one day after veteran offensive tackle Tony Ugoh announced his retirement five days into training camp. A five-year NFL veteran, Willis played in 44 career games (26 starts) with the Seattle Seahawks (2005-09). The 30-year old joined the Chiefs after brief stops with the Miami Dolphins (2011), New Orleans Saints (2011) and the New York Jets (2012). He originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round draft pick (105th overall) of the Seahawks in the 2005 NFL Draft out of Florida State. Willis’ retirement leaves the Chiefs with four offensive tackles. He was competing with third-round draft pick Donald Stephenson Willis was listed third on Kansas City’s depth chart at right tackle behind Winston and Mims. He appeared at that position in the Chiefs first preseason game vs. Arizona. He took part in Kansas City’s final training camp practice in St. Joseph, Mo. on Thursday.
