#2 Wide Receiver 2016-17

I still see #2 WR as a big hole. So, who do you guys want as our #2 next year?

Develop from within? I'm not confident that Wilson, nor Conley is our #2 next year.

Draft "The Guy"? I've read there are a lot of options in the draft again this year, but rookie WRs are mostly unreliable.

Vet FA? Several FAs coming up, but not sure who will get away from their current team: http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/wide-receiver/

Well it's all about this right here, and I was thinking it, but unwilling to type the words.

We are in decent shape at WR as is... but yes... what if?

If we are down to starting Wilson and Conley, then we could be in some serious ****ing trouble. Everyone in here would metaphorically shit themselves with stress over that starting duo. This is the only reason why WR should at least be considered as a position to not overlook. I admit, I'm ambivalent about spending resources on another WR, but without Maclin in there.. holy shit!

Boom. Exactly.

The highlight of Steven Johnson's last 4 seasons was probably blowing out Berry's knee.
You point out the only drop on the season out of Floyd's 61 targets to cut him down for your purposes? really? I'm not even saying he's better, really, but he's definitely more proven.

Anyway... All the arguing about whether Wilson is better than other team's #2 was pretty well cleared up when someone listed a rather small and pathetically deceptive list of backups stepping in for injured players. That's basically just tapping out in acknowledgment of one's own lost argument.

I think Wilson has at least shown that he belongs in the NFL.. but how good is he? eh.. I'd say he's an "okay" #2 right now. I like our #1, #2, and #3 in Mac, AW, and CC... but if that's all we can really count on.. we better pray every night that Maclin stays healthy.

I guess we can all agree that Albert Wilson is better than Jerry Rice and Randy Moss since the NFL is a "right now" league.

I don't know....does Albert Wilson have better stats? Because stats are everything. Isn't that right, self proclaimed "fantasy football god"?

There's no argument to be had. The one presented is a very limited and narrow one. Calling Wilson a #2 is incredibly deceptive. While he may be the guy starting opposite of Maclin, he certainly isn't our #2 in terms of targets.

We're talking about a guy who's a #4 in terms of opportunities and comparing his production to legitimate #2 options. He's a #5 option if you count Alex Smith's running.

The real #2 for the Chiefs is Travis Kelce, and his production is right in line with a good, productive 2nd receiving option.

Long story short, this argument is ****ing reeruned.

If we want to gauge Albert Wilson a bit better, we should look at drop %'s and completion %'s when thrown his way. Avg YPC and YAC as well. Those would do a much better job of telling the story than to compare fantasy football points.

Hmmm.. yeah maybe.

I can see that it's hard to narrow down receiver talent, because there really are so many things that go into it.

We know that in general, Alex and I guess Andy are content to spread the ball around.

One could suggest that Albert's targets/opportunities are what they are because the folks in charge have deemed him... unworthy of more focus.

Really, it just comes down to the "ole eye test" of what a player has shown when given opportunities.. and anyone here trying to compare is essentially prone to error and bias.. because no way no how do any of us watch every snap of every team's games each year.

For me, all i want to see is that he makes the play when given the chance. I understand that with the way this offense is designed, the way our QB plays and where he is in the pecking order, all i expect is that he makes the play when his number is called. Which he has done imo. I don't recall a play this season where i thought "MOTHER**** GODDAMNIT WILSON". Maclin has had more of those moments than Wilson has. Kelce too, obviously.

Don't get me wrong, if a better option comes along im all for it. But i don't feel that it's a position in dire need of replacement. I don't think there's any position group that's dire or "worst in the league". That's not to say that upgrades can't be made.

Chiefs need to invest their FA money into Berry, DJ, Howard, Hali...... unless they want to gamble on Ford. Then maybe you can squeeze Sean Smith into the cap.

Probably will need to draft CB, OL, and maybe WR. We still need a better #2 TE imo.

Alex Smith's performance pretty much paralleled the performance level of our Oline and pass catchers. Why wouldn't we want to keep improving that?

another TE is a must imo

Offensive needs:
RT
TE
WR

Defensive needs
CB
CB
MLB

Going to have to replace DJ and Sean Smith sooner or later. Our depth at CB is crap. Our CB depth now shouldn't ever see the field(Cooper and Fleming)
