Would you trade the no. 1 pick for Cam Newton?

We ran into this topic late Saturday night in another thread.

I personally don't like Cam at all. He's got a ton of talent, but is an absolute idiot. He can't even learn a full playbook. Newton has put up some big numbers, but they haven't translated into a lot of wins.

He is 13-19 as a starter over 2 years.

58.9% comp | 7,920 yards pass | 40 passing TDs | 29 INTS | 1,447 rush yards | 22 rushing TDs |

Would you give up our no. 1 pick for Cam Newton?

Cam Newton has generated 27 TDs in 11 games this year.

Only Tom Brady and Carson Palmer have more, and their teams are not surprisingly 19-3.

And yet people still doubt him.

His pysical skills translated extremely well to the college level, but running through guys from the QB position isn't going to happen in the NFL. Last guy who was effective at that was Steve Young, and he also had exceptional accuracy in the pass.

Personally, I think he (Newton) has already hit his ceiling.
Hmmm?...

2011:
4,051 yards
60%
QBR: 56.2

2012:
3,869 yards
57.7%
QBR: 57.6

2013:
3,379 yards
61.7%
QBR: 61.1

2014:
3,127 yards
58.5%
QBR: 54.4

2015:
2,466 yards (on pace for 3,500)
57.2%
QBR: 58.5

102 TDs
63 Ints

Newton has had one winning season to this point. Two wild card exits from the playoffs. Yards have fallen off and he's still not very accurate. Still throws a lot of interceptions.

Every season, he seems to be bumping his head against the same ceiling.

The main difference in 2015? This dude:

Absolutely killing it.

As well as Mike Shula being promoted to offensive coordinator. He's doing a great job in terms of making the most out of what he has. And Sean McDermott has turned into one of the best DC's in the league. (Surprising that Reid didn't make a push to get him into KC after having him in Philly as his DC there after Johnson.)

Johnathan Stewart and Greg Olsen are having great seasons as well.

People don't realize how bad the Panthers teams around him have been though.

His 2012 team lost to the Chiefs. The BRADY QUINN Chiefs.

Not true.

Loved Kuechly. Blew me away his freshman year when I was watching a game primarily to see Mark Herzlich and here was this freshman that was absolutely everywhere on the field.

And, for the record, I wanted the Chiefs to draft Cam in 2011. In fact, I remember getting shit for it from a couple of people.

His back to back 400 yard games to start his rookie season didn't wow you? You're hard to impress then especially being a Chiefs fan.

Newton is doing this without Benjamin. His best WR. That's impressive.
