I never said that. I’ve said I like that we’re making the offense more efficient. I like forcing Andy to run more and getting Reid back to the screen game wizard he is. But…..

We are starting to use it as a crutch especially later in games and on third downs. And that’s a defense saying they want to take the ball out of mahomes’ hands and us saying in critical situations we want mahomes to do the bare minimum and for mckinnon to do the playmaking. Mckinnon is Steve Kerr to Jordan. He is a hell of a weapon in the passing game. But He shouldn’t be there to take every game winning shot. He’s the guy Jordan passes to as a very last resort.

Mahomes is at his best in the 4th when he is aggressive. He can make throws others can’t. He can buy time in miraculous ways with his legs. But he can’t if his WRs can’t get open. He can’t if he has to hit them in the breadbasket each time. Instead of blasting him for not taking what he’s given the better use of mahomes talents is to give him WRs who lessen the need for these safe bailouts. Give him an inch and he can take it a mile. Kelce has been exceptional in the middle but we’ve gotta get production out of our WRs in these situations. Because then you can attack with mahomes. Not rely on Pacheco. Not rely on McKinnon. Not rely on our defense when we settle for a fg. Use the exceptional arm talent we have and let him go back to making plays other QBs are incapable of making.

So essentially, throw it down the field.

Like they did last year when Tyreek was as here…..or wait.

I mean **** man, these “safe bailouts” have lead them to the most explosive 20 yard passing plays in the league.

Im kind of at a loss here

I’ve already addressed this multiple times.

First our offense was dominant to close the year except for one bad half. Much as you keep referencing last year as some cautionary tale. But yeah you can’t have speed speed speed. We needed a big body like juju to offset tyreek not a bunch of burners. Been saying that constantly even when tyreek was here. And when we keep talking about our dominant offense, I know you’re not talking about the second half of the season where we’ve really been battling as a pass offense.

Second, I haven’t said we need a tyreek. I didn’t say we need to throw deep. I never said we need a speed demon. Being aggressive doesn’t just mean 50 yard bombs. It means short or mid passes where mahomes can throw a guy open and the WR actually makes an athletic play to get to it. Have you ever even watched guys like AJ brown or Hopkins? If you chuck that ball in the same zip code they’re going to find ways to catch it and make sure the other guy doesn’t. Why can’t we have that? And rather than burn snaps on Mvs being a decoy how about a guy with speed who isn’t useless on other snaps.

And still nobody has addressed the elephant in the room about how much better kelce makes our WRs look. The guy who will be 34 next year. You really think we can keep relying on him to keep soaking up doubles and triples and getting mauled constantly?

totally agree.

Draft picks need to offset free agency, so it makes a lot of sense to keep swinging in the draft at positions that are expensive in FA…especially ones that we have existing force multipliers in.

The best plan for this offseason is to let the coaches and training staff improve our young talent to give them a chance to shine while spending available resources to improve areas on the team that are a bigger and more impactful need.

Our DE position is held together by duct tape
We need an upgrade to at least one OT position

Let’s say we add another DE of similar quality to George to bookend with him while also adding an OT that can seal one of the edges.

Then look at what we’re going into 2023 with in the WR room.

Toney
Ross
Moore
MVS
Draft pick

Hopefully the training staff can put the pieces together of Toney and Ross. If they can, that already has big time potential.

It’s our current WR room minus JJSS whom many here don’t seem to really respect and Hardman whom many think was a complete bust as a WR.

Do you really think there’s any chance that’s the WR room next year? And did it just dawn on people here that we were thin on WRs under contract? That was the advantage of getting someone like Toney who has 3 more years of control.

I think our wr room is solid… with a WR1 that bumps everyone down one spot. Juju is more of a possession guy. Skyy in the slot. Toney flex and gadget. Watson in limited sets. Mvs as a speed guy although I’d rather he be expendable. If Ross progresses he may make juju expendable. Not having a WR1 forces these guys into one level up roles that I don’t think are well suited for them.

There's just not any scenario I can see where Ross supplants the level of production Juju has given us. I still don't see him as anything other than a lottery ticket that we're probably not ever going to be able to cash out.

It’s assumed by the team that Ross has zero value until proven otherwise.

100%. Which means unless we make a move we don’t have a true WR1. He’s the only guy on our roster with an outside shot.

Assuming health I predict Toney as having a larger role than Skyy, he would be more than just flex/gadget.

Eek

One guy who can’t stay healthy
Another guy who is useless in all but 1-2 snaps
A new guy coming back from injury - no guarantee he’s any good or more notably can stay healthy
A draft pick Andy will barely play in year 1

So… no. If skyy or Ross excel they can still play tons of snaps at Y or the slot. You still get a chance to develop these guys but there’s no way we walk into that WR set without major insurance.
