Thoughts on the Offense.

IMO, there has only been 1 game this season where the offense has look competent at all by NFL standards. That was the game at Oakland.
That also is the only game where we came out with the mindset that we were going to run first, and pass to compliment the run.

I know game situations dictate stats somewhat, but look at the game by game rush to pass totals:

Chargers - 19 rushes, 48 passes
Texans - 19 rushes, 37 passes
Jets - 27 rushes, 33 passes
Steelers - 18 rushes, 50 passes
Raiders - 40 rushes, 23 passes
Saints - 28 rushes, 24 passes
Colts - 27 rushes, 41 passes
Jags - 22 rushes, 33 passes
Panthers - 20 rushes, 38 passes
Buc's - 21 rushes, 31 passes

Go back to last season. Same trend.

Texans - 32 rushes, 33 passes
Bronco's - 28 rushes , 25 passes
Packers - 18 rushes, 40 passes
Bengals - 23 rushes, 45 passes
Bears - 25 rushes, 30 passes
Vikes - 18 rushes, 37 passes
Steelers - 29 rushes, 32 passes
Lions - 32 rushes, 28 passes
Bronco's - 32 rushes, 31 passes
Chargers - 31 rushes, 25 passes
Bills - 27 rushes, 30 passes
Raiders - 22 rushes, 22 passes
Chargers - 25 rushes, 23 passes
Ravens - 28 rushes, 25 passes
Browns - 27 rushes, 22 passes
Raiders - 39 rushes, 25 passes
Texans - 37 rushes, 17 passes
Pats - 32 rushes, 50 passes

We are not a passing team, yet we try to be one. Commit to the run and mix in the pass as a compliment. 60/40 ratio needs to be the goal, with 50/50 range being acceptable. We are a very good team when we do this. Not so much when we throw it 1st.

Thought it was explained time and again when Andy came aboard? that we should expect a shit load of short passes (as extensions of runs). That Andy always forgets about the run game, and is obsessed with lots of short passing.

And watchable. The game against Oakland was fun to watch. Not painful.
So nobody in this organization has the courage to tell Andy that his pass happy playcalling and red zone trickery is not working as expected? We have two OCs, a veteran QB who is supposed to be an astute student of the game and a GM who has been around elite offenses in the past. I wonder what they discuss during the week.
It also looks like Andy places too much emphasis on if it works in practice it must work in the game except without a real feel for how the game is progressing.

To be fair, we were a laughingstock when he came to town and now are considered a playoff team with reasonable aspirations for a title. He's far from perfect, but he's a hell of a lot better than what we had before him. I'd guess anyone we brought in would have flaws, and he's no different. But he does win games, even if we question if he has the juice to get us to the promised land.

I wouldnt argue with any of that, there were far worse choices Clark could've made... but with better records comes increased expectations

IMO its fair to begin wondering if Andy can take us over the top, considering some of his stubborn tendencies

Yes, it's puzzling.

Last year we were 1-1 and should have been 2-0 (Charles fumble returned for TD), and passed 58 times out of 118 snaps for a 49% passing vs 51% run. Then we went the next 4 games with 152 passes out of 236 snaps. 64% pass vs 36% run. Record 0-4. Next 11 games, 280 passes out of 609 plays. 46% pass vs 54% run. Record 11-0. Last game vs NE 50 passes out of 82 snaps. 61% pass 39% run. Loss.

That is what they should be discussing.

Play calling is our problem. Tyreek is our Antonio Brown in the making and he needs to be actually touching the ball much more. Last week has been the only time he was seriously targeted for much of the game.

There's been QBs who have won the SB with far worse stats so I don't really care what Alex Smith's stats are right now. I care about beating the Broncos.

Aaron Rodgers is on pace for 40 TDs 11 INTs but his team sucks so who really cares? You think the Packer fans are saying "hey we are losing but our QB is awesome so this season is a success!"

We have to focus on winning as a team despite any limitations our QB may have. We've got the D to make up for his short-comings and I don't believe the current slump the offense is in will last much longer. They'll break out of it soon.

I hope.
