Why is what Philly did worse than Pittsburgh?
The initial reaction to Philly pulling Hurts seems like it has been cries of how much of a "disgrace" it was. For example:
But how is that any worse than other teams resting their starters? Our game didn't matter, but Pittsburgh rested a few guys which almost certainly helped Cleveland get into the playoffs and forced the Dolphins to sit at home. Just curious if there's some reason I'm missing that the former situation is so egregious while the latter is just normal. |

The whole system is broken and stupid. Playoff appearances and rankings should be based solely on record. No team with a losing record should EVER make the playoffs if there are better teams that are sitting home because they play against decent competition. And while I chuckle at the idea of Tom Terrific and his merry band of bought off ref$ playing on the road against the former Deadskins, I haven't chuckled in the past when the Chiefs sat home with a better record than some doormat division winner, and that's happened more than once.
It's wrong. It's stupid. It's backwards. It's like daylight savings time; everybody hates it, but nobody does anything to change it. And I can't remember hearing an announcer, player, coach or talking studio head complain about it, which is also nuts. |

It's not even just #1. Because pederson gambled on the 4th and 4. It's hard to figure out what was going through pedersons head. But in any event, he's going to have to do a lot of work to win back his locker room after what he did. |

I watched most of the second half. First, you clearly had Al and Chris pulling for the Giants to make the playoffs. Then, late in the 3rd on the 4th and goal from the 4, the Eagles went for it when trailing 17-14. Hurts missed a wide open TD pass that would have basically won the game, as the WFT was clearly not going to overcome a 4 point deficit. The 4th quarter was a comedy of turnovers and near turnovers. WFT put the ball on the field multiple times. Opportunity was there. You could tell Al was clearly ticked Philly didn't kick the FG. And he kept at it from there. With Chris chiming in. I am assuming Washington fans were livid about that as well?
It's not like the Giants were not the beneficiaries of a huge WTF moment from the officials that gifted them the win when their RB fumbled either. Pretty fitting ending to the NFC East. Now, I hope WFT can somehow take out Tampa Saturday night. |

Others have said this already but it bears repeating. Pederson lost the locker room last night. The players know who should be on the field and who shouldn't. I also agree with those that say the playoff participation rules need tweaked.
As in Rule #1: All teams participating in the playoffs will have a minimum of a 0.500 winning percentage. If there are not enough teams to qualify to fill the bracket then award byes to the highest ranking teams in descending order until bracket is filled. For next year and a 17 game season that means at least an 8-8-1 record or better.

I'd have a little more sympathy for the Giants if they weren't crying about missing the chance to be the worst playoff team in history. |

I don't get the outrage and if this game was played at noon no one would give a shit. People are tending to forget that the Eagles rested alot of players last night.
Here is the list. DeSean Jackson Carson Wentz Alshon Jeffery Miles Sanders Michael Jacquet Jordan Mailata Richard Rodgers Dallas Goedert Fletcher Cox Derek Barnett |

6-10
1-5 vs winning teams. They played a shit schedule, and still ended up only winning 6. That’s a YOU problem. |

It was a shit move. Frankly I think Peterson used it as an excuse to help out Alex and Rivera, basically he folded on purpose to get them into the playoffs. |

This stuff doesn't happen enough to change anything, I mean does it really matter if its a 9-7 team vs a 7-9 team getting their ass kicked in the playoffs? Win all the games you can and deal with the consequences. |
