Tyrann Mathieu reiterates he wants to stay in Kansas City at NFL Honors

Kansas City Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu — a nominee for the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Award — joined NFL Network on the red carpet ahead of the NFL Honors in Los Angeles. Mathieu is due to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason after three seasons in Kansas City.

“Obviously, the hope and the dream is to continue to be a Kansas City Chief,” said Mathieu. “We created so much history the last couple of years... I want to be in Kansas City, and I think everybody knows that.”

There is a twitter video but I am unable to post it here for some reason Follow link below.

The 18 second mark since NFL won't let me embed.

And he even threw the ol' 'arms up' motion in there for good measure.

People that wanna act like he's 'fallen off' just weren't paying attention last year. He's been doing this since about week 4 of the season. He's just awful at this point.
Good Lord, that was terrible. I had not noticed that. Glad the Chiefs recognized that he was done.

It feels like it's a mental block for him now. He just won't engage contact and when he does it's to arm tackle (with skinny, 5'10 frame). He didn't used to do that so regularly. He brought the wood plenty in his first season with us and was one of our surer tacklers.

He honestly reminds me of Berry in his last season here. It just seems like Tyrann's mind for whatever reason isn't fully in the game in front of him.

Respectfully, Vadger was making business decisions long before week 4 of last season. I've been calling him out for it since 2019. But at least back then you got some plays per game that made up for it a little bit.

Of course he had one of those dislocating ball from player hits this weekend which I loved.

Nobody burned, a little frostbite because we were barefoot in the snow (all healed fine). Fun day, lol.

Even if Honey Badget had a bad season last year I don't see how losing him is a 'plus' when the guy replacing isn't doing much.

Justin Reid isn't doing much better. Josh Allen jumped over him like he was a school girl in a key moment during last weeks game

Dude, same thing happened to my boss like 7 years ago. She barely got her 2 kids out and it was like -15 out, one of the coldest mornings of the year. Went out without any shoes or anything. There was ice everywhere.

Hope everything is looking up.

Yup, similar here. The one day it snowed in Jan, first thing in the morning. Ran to see if there was something I could put out ended up having to go outside to get some air. Wife and I were talking out the back window, so she was mostly fine. Took two tries to get to my kids, was so black you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. A couple scarring moments there for sure.
