In case anyone needs it spelled out, we would play at a neutral site if the AFCCG ends up being Chiefs vs. Bills. All other scenarios abide by the usual rules (so any other game the Chiefs play will be at home).

Why would a group of fans who take pride in their ability to influence games and their reputation as 'the worlds loudest fans' take umbrage with having a home game stolen from them on a lark?

There are other possible scenarios for cancelled games that don't involve players having heart attacks on the field (which is why the NFL has set rules in place for cancelled games) and I'm sure you can see that.

I'm not upset at the actual implications on the Chiefs Super Bowl chances, but it's the principle and precedent that I'm a little cranky about.

The decision to cancel the game was a discretionary one and done with the idea that a discussion about an equitable accommodation would happen.

The decision to not resume the game can be changed back to resume the game with full rest between games and change the schedule to Super Bowl during March Madness.

Because of that precedent it sets and the 'pandora's box' that it opens up going forward for the NFL just to be able to change things last minute at their discretion when they feel it affects 'competitive balance' . . . . . . . this is not a good thing.

Obviously, the course suggested above hurts other teams more than the Chiefs, but that doesn't mean the Chiefs should support it just because they only got a little screwed in the deal.

It's kind of cool to be standing in attendance when the Lamar Hunt trophy is presented to Clark Hunt. So far it's happened 2 times, and only one of them had a full Arrowhead stadium thanks to COVID. This year could potentially be the third time, with once again there being some extraordinary reason why it couldn't just be a full-on home town party.

I guess. I dunno, all this hinges on the Bills coming thru that side of the playoffs and I'm not sure we need to wrry about that anyway.

Because it takes away one of the primary benefits of being a #1 seed… HFA throughout the playoffs.

And the opportunity to host the AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead… even if it has become a regular occurrence the last four years… should never be taken for granted.

The Chiefs went 50+ years before they hosted an AFC Championship Game.

Devils advocate view: This circumstance does screw the Chiefs a little but it also potentially gave the Chiefs a bye week. If the Bills-Cinci game had continued and the Bills had won, the Chiefs not only have to play on the road (in a non-neutral stadium) but they also have no bye week.

And that's the other thing. For me personally, I definitely would have gone down to KC again this month for such a home game. I almost certainly won't be going to a neutral site AFC championship game if that's what it turns out to be.
